Serving liquor beyond the permissible time has led to a Rs.20 lakh penalty on the discotheque of a leading five-star hotel chain here, an official said on Monday.
The penalty was imposed following a raid by officials of the Chandigarh administration on the 'Kitty-Su' discotheque.
"Excise and taxation officers along with police personnel raided the premises at around 1.30 a.m. and found that liquor was being served beyond the permissible time limit of 1 a.m.," Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner Kashish Mittal said here.
"The team had also found invoices generated after 1 a.m. towards the sale of liquor from the premises. The license of Kitty-Su shall remain suspended," Mittal said.
He said that such raids would continue in the days to come and action as warranted by law shall be taken against violators.
