Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" started off on a good note at the Indian box office, managing to earn more than Rs. 5 crore just in three days.
It hit 287 Indian screens - in 213 3D screens and in 74 2D screens - Friday and raked in Rs.5.1 crore till Monday, said a statement.
The fantasy adventure movie, which has a mix of action scenes along with romance to excite the audience, stars Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace and Luke Evans.
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is the second film in the Hobbit trilogy. The first instalment "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" released in 2012.
