A week after the formation of a rebel RSS faction here, the Sangh top brass has appointed a new sangh chalak and karyavaha for the Goa division, a spokesperson said on Saturday.
Lakshman Behare and Mahesh Dhavalikar have been appointed as the sangh chalak and karyavaha respectively, head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's publicity division Manmohan Vaidya told IANS.
"Their appointment is confirmed," he said.
Asked whether the duo had been tasked with reaching out to Subhash Velingkar, the recently sacked state RSS chief, and try and bring him back into the fold, Vaidya said: "It is up to them... This is a local issue".
Earlier this month, Velingka, had accused Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar of using his influence with the Sangh top brass and sacking him as the state RSS chief. Velingkar has also formed formed a parallel unit of the RSS in Goa, which has nominated him as the sangha chalak.
The RSS leader has also criticized the local BJP's governments malgovernance and failure to keep promises both under the rein of Parrikar as chief minister and under his successor Laxmikant Parsekar.
