Moscow, Nov 18 (IANS/TASS) The Russian government Tuesday invited US internet search giant Google to create an underwater map of the Arctic shelf.
Russia's ministry of natural resources said it was discussing with Google a joint project on creating a panoramic map of the Arctic shelf.
"We have held a meeting with the representatives of Google ... We offered them to think about one of our underwater areas, a part of the Arctic. One can see many animals there," Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergey Donskoy said.
In March, Donskoy said the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf recognised an enclave of 52,000 sq km in the Sea of Okhotsk as part of Russia's continental shelf.
