Sachin pays tribute to Hughes

Paying a tribute to Phillip Hughes, who died Nov 27 after being hit by a bouncer, Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar said the Australian would be "missed".

Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble and right-arm off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also took to Twitter to express their condolences.

"Will miss you Phil. Your enthusiasm to learn and drive for perfection was most impressive. #FarewellHughes," tweeted Tendulkar, also attaching a photograph of him with Hughes.

While Kumble's short tweet was about how cricket would miss Hughes, Ashwin believed that the turnout at the funeral showed how many lives the 25-year-old Hughes had touched.

"Phil Hughes RIP...#63notout cricket will miss you," wrote the former leggie.

Noting the game has become poorer with the death of Hughes, Ashwin posted, "This funeral shows how many lifes the little man touched, the game is surely poorer without you. RIPPhillipHughes".

Hughes died of injuries after he was hit by a bouncer Nov 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) while playing a first class match.

His funeral was held Wednesday at his hometown Macksville, which was attended by thousands, including Indian stand-in skipper Virat Kohli and team director Ravi Shastri.
