At a time when the whole nation was celebrating P.V. Sindhu's historic silver medal feat at the Rio Olympics, London games bronze medallist Saina Nehwal announced on Friday that she will go under the knife for her troublesome right knee on Saturday.
Saina, who bowed out of the Rio Olympics after the first round, has been battling with a knee problem for quite some time.
The 26-year-old, who was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday, informed on Twitter about her surgery.
"Surgery tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. friends pls pray for me," Saina's tweet read.
Saina revealed that her knee started troubling just before the Olympics and further worsened after training and her first round match against Marija Ulitina.
