Sajad Lone, People's Conference leader and a candidate in the state assembly elections, Monday denied Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's charge that he had sent 80 vehicle loads of people to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Srinagar.
Omar Abdullah had tweeted Monday: "So Sajad Lone is sending about 80 vehicle loads of supporters from Kupwara to help his "elder brother" make up the numbers".
Omar was alluding to Sajad Lone's statement made when he met Modi last month and called him 'elder brother'.
Talking to the media here, Sajad said he was not afraid of anyone but denied having sent party supporters to attend the BJP rally.
"I thought Omar is a new generation politician who does not lie. But, he has lied through his teeth by saying I have sent supporters to attend the BJP rally in Srinagar today (Monday)", Sajad said.
He also said if people were coming to attend Modi's rally in Srinagar why should somebody like Omar Abdullah try and deny Modi the credit for the people's attendance at his rally.
Sajad Lone is fighting the assembly election from Handwara constituency in north Kashmir that went to polls Dec 2 in the 2nd phase of the five-phased J&K election.
In another tweet Omar said: "Not a single BJP flag or banner on the vehicles or with the people I saw walking to the stadium. Such a telling sign of BJP support".
