A court here Wednesday extended till Sep 20 the CBI custody of Assamese singer Sadananda Gogoi arrested in connection with the multi-crore-rupee Saradha scam.
Presented on the expiry of his CBI custody granted Sep 13, the court extended the remand till Sep 20.
Alleged to have made a TV commercial for the Saradha group, Gogoi was arrested Sep 12 by the Central Bureau of Investigation for alleged conspiracy and misappropriation of funds.
Meanwhile, CBI denied having interrogated former Assam director general of police (DGP) Shankar Baruah who Wednesday shot himself dead at his Guwahati residence after his name cropped up in the scam.
"Reports appearing in a certain section of the media today (Wednesday) that ex-DGP Assam was examined by the CBI, is not correct. He was not summoned as yet. This is a sad and unfortunate incident and the CBI expresses its condolences," a spokesperson of the agency said.
CBI sleuths had raided Baruah's residence Aug 28.
