The Supreme Court will Thursday hear a plea by former Gujarat minister Maya Kodnani seeking extension of interim bail for her medical treatment.
Kodnani suffered burn injuries at her home Feb 8 while she was on three months' interim bail for the treatment of intestinal tuberculosis.
The apex court bench of Justice H.L. Dattu and Justice S.A. Bobde said it would hear the matter Thursday.
The bench asked counsel Ram Jethmalani to file an affidavit detailing the subsequent events after Kodnani suffered burn injuries at her home.
Kodnani was convicted for her involvement in the Naroda Patiya massacre during the 2002 Gujarat riots and was sentenced to 28 years' imprisonment.
Posting the matter for Thursday, Justice Dattu said: "We are convinced that she has suffered burn injuries. She is in a pitiable condition and she needs some relief."
The court said it did not have before it on record either the ordinary copy or certified copy of the high court order rejecting her plea and asked counsel to submit it.
Making a mention, Jethmalani told the court that Kodnani was granted three months' bail Nov 11, 2013 for her treatment and when she approached the high court for its extension by another six months, it was refused Feb 6 last.
