The Tihar Jail authorities informed a court here on Monday that security of jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana, who with his aides killed two members of a rival gang in a police van, has been tightened.
Submitting a report to the court, the jail authorities informed it that extra security personnel have been deployed during the transportation of the accused from the jail to the court and the deputy commissioner of police of the Delhi Armed Police 3rd Battalion has been apprised about it.
The report also claimed that Bawana's behaviour was "not satisfactory" as he was allegedly involved in the killing of the two accused in the jail van.
The court has sought a response from jail authorities on a plea filed by Bawana on August 26, seeking security for himself citing threat to his life.
Two undertrial inmates were killed and five suffered injuries in the clash between the rival gangs of Neetu Dabodha and Neeraj Bawana while they were being taken back to Tihar jail from a city court on last Tuesday evening.
Bawana on Wednesday claimed that he had also filed similar applications but the jail administration did not take the issue seriously.
He claimed that last Tuesday's clash was due to irresponsible behaviour of the jail administration.
The plea filed by his counsel M.S. Khan said they had earlier moved applications on two occasions. But the jail administration and the deputy commissioner of police of the Delhi Armed Police 3rd Battalion "did not take the complaint seriously" and "filed a concocted report" before the court.
Bawana claimed that he faced a serious threat to his life as his rivals might try to eliminate him during his transportation, presentation in court and inside the prison complex.
