Security beefed up in Kolkata for Independence Day

Elaborate security arrangements, including setting up check-posts at strategic locations, have been made in and around the city for Independence Day.

"Although there is no immediate threat perception on Independence Day, we have made elaborate security arrangements in and around the city with check-posts and watch towers at strategic locations," city Police Commissioner S.K. Purkayastha said.
