Gun battles continued during the day between security forces and militants in Jammu region's Poonch district -- where a policeman was killed -- and in Kashmir's Bandipora and Kupwara districts on Sunday.
A soldier was also injured in the ongoing gunfight in Poonch district as army commandos launched a final assault against holed-up militants.
"Militants started firing from the under-construction mini-secretariat building near the headquarters of Army's 93 Brigade in Poonch town in the morning," a senior police official said.
"All escape routes have been sealed," he added.
In Kupwara, an encounter started in Nowgam sector of the Line of Control (LoC), a senior police officer said.
In Bandipora, another encounter was on near the LoC in Gurez sector.
Both the gunfights in the Kashmir were continuing, the officer added.
