Lieutenant-General Philip Campose, who heads the Western Command of the Indian Army, reviewed the security situation in Jammu Tuesday.
The command chief's visit in the region comes in the wake of a series of ceasefire violations and firing at Indian posts by the Pakistani Army over the past two mnonths. The incidents have caused panic in border villages.
Lt.Gen. Campose interacted with commanders and senior officers of the Rising Star Corps zone area at Jammu Garrison. Major-General Ashwani Kumar, commanding the Tiger Division, briefed him about the security scenario in the Jammu region.
Ashwani Kumar and other senior commanders assured the Western Command chief about their defence preparedness.
Lt.Gen. Campose also interacted with Air Commodore P.E. Patange, who heads the Jammu Air Force Station. He advised the air force commander to look into every aspect related to security threat in the cantonment zone. In the afternoon, Lt.Gen Campose left for Chandimandir, the HQs of the Western Command.
