A senior Taliban militant and six others were killed in a military raid in Baghlan province of Afghanistan, an official said on Wednesday.
"The Afghan Army's warplanes carried a series of raids in Dand-e-Ghuri district on Tuesday night. Maulawi Helel, Taliban shadow governor for Baghlan, was killed along with six of his comrades," Xinhua news agency quoted Governor Abdul Hai Nahimi as saying.
Kunduz as well as neighbouring Baghlan and Takhar provinces have been the scene of heavy clashes over the past couple of months as Taliban has been trying to challenge the government forces in the once relatively peaceful region.
