A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading flat at 16.91 points or 0.06 percent up during afternoon session on Tuesday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 4.95 points or 0.06 percent up at 8,336.90 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,561.32 points, was trading at 27,507.50 points (at 12.43 p.m.), up 16.91 points or 0.06 percent from the previous day's close at 27,490.59 points.
The Sensex has touched a high of 27,603.71 points and a low of 27,402.94 points in the intra-day trade so far.
Good buying was observed in metal and capital goods sectors, while selling pressure was seen in power and consumer durables sectors.
The BSE S&P metal index moved up by 2.24 percent and capital goods index inched up by 0.78 percent, while power index went down by 0.50 percent and consumer durables index dropped by 0.18 percent.
