Sensex provisionally closes 202 points down

A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed Thursday's trade 201.62 points or 0.75 percent down.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 59.45 points or 0.73 percent in the red at 8,111.75 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,083.70 points, provisionally closed at 26,838.14 points (at 3.43 p.m.) -- down 201.62 points or 0.75 percent from the previous day's close at 27,039.76 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27,099.11 points and a low of 26,794.10 points in the intra-day trade.
