Reacting to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's controversial simile, the women's wing of the Congress on Wednesday said that rape is a sensitive issue and nobody should take it so lightly.

"Salman Khan's statement has hurt the sentiments of rape victims. It (rape) is a serious issue and nobody should discuss it so lightly," said Shobha Oza, president of the All India Mahila Congress.

"If Salman retracts his statement or tenders an apology, his personality as a cine star will not reduce. So, he must reconsider what he has said," Oza told reporters here.

She said that Salman should have been more sensitive while making the statement.
