At least seven people were killed and 10 injured Monday in a suicide attack at the funeral of a tribal elder in Afghanistan's Baghlan province.

According to a police official, the incident occurred in Burka district, Xinhua reported.

"A terrorist strapped an explosive device on his body and blew himself up among hundreds of people who were offering prayers at the funeral," the official said.

Two police personnel were among those killed in the blast, the official said, adding that the injured comprised two police personnel and eight civilians.

The official also said that the number of casualties could rise.
