New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) The All India Network of Sex Workers (AINSW), an umbrella group of representatives of sex workers communities and civil society, Saturday decided to set up a self-regulatory board to look into trafficking and violence.

In a statement, the group said there was a need for such a board to address violence and trafficking. They also sought representation of the sex workers community in all policy-making groups in all ministries dealing with sex workers.

"It was suggested that they be on the lines of the boards that have been set up by Durbar Mahila Samannya Committee in Kolkata and Ashodhaya in Mysore. The approach of these boards was participatory, transparent and found to be very effective in addressing trafficking in these two cities," the statement said.

"Our self-regulatory board has rescued women and minors in the last decade," said Putul, a member of the group from Kolkata.
