Italian football club AC Milan announced that their striker Stephan El Shaarawy will be sidelined for two to three weeks after damaging his foot against Dutch side Ajax.
The forward had been out of action for a couple of months with a micro-fracture in his left foot and suffered a knock in the same area during last a Champions League game, reports Xinhua.
"Shaarawy suffered an injury to the same left foot which he had mirco-fractured previously but after a test at the Madonnina hospital there was no recurrence of the fracture and instead inflammation of the previously damaged zone," read a statement released on the Milan official website Thursday.
El Shaarawy will rest for two to three weeks and visit Amsterdam for another specialist consultation with professor Niek Van Dijk.
It effectively means his 2013 is already over and he won't play again until the New Year.
