Shillong Lajong sign Cameroon striker EdoaNga

Cameroon international Charles EdoaNga has joined Shillong Lajong Football Club for the 2013-14 season. EdoaNga joins from Cameroonian club Union Douala.

The 23-year-old striker, who is comfortable playing on either flank or down the centre, represented his country at the U-17 and U-20 levels and began his club career with Cameroon's third division club Cintra FC de Yaounde.

In a span of two years after joining top division club Union Douala in 2009, he helped the team finish seventh in the league before winning the MTN Elite One title in 2012.

EdoaNga was also part of Union Douala in the CAF Confederations Cup in 2009 and 2012.

Shillong Lajong general secretary Larsing Ming Sawyan said: "Charles is a great signing for the club. He is a player with solid experience at club and international level with Cameroon and we believe he will add significant quality to our squad this coming season."

EdoaNga, a full international for the Cameroon B team, said: "I am very happy and looking forward to joining Shillong Lajong. In my opinion, Lajong are one of the few clubs in India who have a really huge fan base. So my main focus is to go there, play well for the team and bring joy to the fans because I know how much they love their club and their football."
