Top seed P.V. Sindhu reached the women's singles semi-finals of the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold here at the Juara Indoor Stadium by winning both her second round and quarter-final matches Thursday.

Sindhu, who reached a career high of World No.13 Thursday, first overcame Ngan Yi Cheung of Hong Kong 11-21, 21-18, 21-10 in 46 minutes after which she beat Indonesian seventh seed Hera Desi 21-17, 21-17 in 37 minutes to advance to the last four of the tier three tournament.

The 17-year-old, who reached the semi-finals of the India Open last week, will face Thai third seed Sapsiree Taerattanachai Friday for a place in the finals. Both the girls have one win over each other.

However, it was the end of the road for R.M.V. Gurusaidutt, K. Srikanth and Sameer Verma who lost their respective men's singles matches.

Eleventh seed Gurusaidutt retired in the quarter-final clash against Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin. The Indian retired with the score reading 21-19, 5-2 in favour of the Malaysian.

Gurusaidutt had earlier beat Riichi Takeshita of Japan 21-19, 21-16 in 36 minutes in round three.

Malaysian third seed Daren Liew beat Srikanth 21-17, 22-20 in 42 minutes while Hong Kong shuttler Yan Kit Chan made short work of Verma in 37 minutes, beating him 21-15, 21-19 in third round matches.
