Tamil Nadu will elect all the 39 members from the state to the Lok Sabha on a single day: April 24.
On the same day, Puducherry will elect its lone Lok Sabha member.
According to the Election Commission, the poll notification will be issued March 29. The last date for filing of nomination and withdrawal of candidature are April 5 and April 9 respectively.
The votes will be counted on May 16.
The bye-election for the Alandur assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu will also be held April 24.
The bye-election was necessitated following the resignation of Panruti S. Ramachandran from the DMDK party and the assembly.
Subsequently, he joined the ruling AIADMK. It will be interesting to see whether he will be nominated by the AIADMK for the Alandur seat.
