Six people were injured when a speeding car rammed into the cycle rickshaws they were sleeping on, police said Saturday.

Six people, most of them rickshaw pullers, were sleeping on their vehicles parked by the road-side in Sarai Rohilla area in north Delhi, when a car rammed into them and toppled over after hitting the pavement around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The injured were taken to Bara Hindu Rao hospital and are out danger, police said.

The three people who were inside the car ran away leaving the car on the spot.

Police said it seemed that the driver was in an inebriated state as an alcohol bottle and glasses were found inside the car. No arrests have been made so far.

This is the third such incident in the capital in a week.
