Six policemen suspended for illegal custody of minors

Six policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were suspended here Tuesday for keeping seven minor boys in police custody for three days in connection with a case of theft, said police.

SHO Sunil Kumar was deputed at Vijay Vihar police station where the minors were kept in illegal police custody from March 25 to 27.

Head Constable Lal Singh, and constables Rahul, Rajkumar, Subhash and Akhilesh were suspended for detaining seven minor boys March 25 for allegedly stealing around 14 kg of plumbing material.

They were let off after police could not find any evidence against them.
