Condoling the death of veteran actor-producer Shashi Kapoor, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday called him a "brilliant actor" and said "he has left a void difficult to fill in the world of cinema".
"A brilliant actor, he successfully contributed in paving the way for alternative pathbreaking cinema Nationally and Internationally," said Gandhi.
"He will be fondly remembered by all and has left a void difficult to fill in the world of cinema," she added.
Conveying her sympathies to his family and fans for this irreparable loss, Gandhi prayed for the departed soul.
Veteran actor-producer Shashi Kapoor, the romantic screen icon of the 70s and early 80s, died on Monday at a hospital here. He was 79.
