India were bowled out for 173 in their second innings, giving South Africa a target of 310 runs on the second day of the third Test being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) here on Thursday.
After scoring 215 in the first innings and bowling out the Proteas for a measly 79, India then managed 173 with Shikhar Dhawan top scoring with 39.
Cheteshwar Pujara (31) and Rohit Sharma (23) also made notable contributions for the home team.
South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir picked up the second five-wicket haul of his career, scalping 5/38. Pacer Morne Morkel also chipped in with 3/19.
