Barcelona Regional, the urban development agency for the Spanish city, could partner with New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and Delhi Development Authority to develop New Delhi as a smart city, said a statement.

The proposal was put forward by India's Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu to the Barcelona mayor Xavier Trias who agreed to examine the possibility of cooperating with the Delhi civic agency and the land-owning authority.

Naidu is attending the 4th Smart City Expo World Congress at Barcelona in Spain.

New Delhi is one of the seven districts of the national capital.
