One person was killed and three others were injured on Monday at the Harauni railway station here following a stampede caused by a last-minute change in platform for a train, officials said.
In the chaos, a 25-year-old youth slipped on to the railway track from the platform and was run over by a train. The victim was identified as Pradeep, a resident of Latifnagar who was on his way to Lucknow city to fetch some medicines.
Hundreds of passengers then vandalized the station, forcing authorities to stop the movement of trains for a while. The station master absconded, an official said.
