Space, aliens, droids and galactic battles -- the words may seem to be straight from a "Star Wars" film, but this is a brief description of Star Wars-themed lands. The new attraction will soon be making their way into two parks -- Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced the expansion plan at the D23 Expo 2015 on Saturday at Anaheim. The three-day biennial fan event began on Friday.
"We are bringing 'Star Wars' to life in a big way. We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single-theme land expansion. We are going to transport guests to a whole new planet. The land will be real and authentic and every encounter will bring the 'Star Wars' story to life," Iger said.
Talking further about the new addition to the theme parks, he said: "The 14-acre land will be occupied by many inhabitants, aliens and droids. The attractions, the entertainment, everything we will create will be a part of our storytelling transporting our guest to a world of fantasy, adventure and fun".
There will be aliens stationed at restaurants and stores to assist customers. Along with the thrilling battle experience, another attraction will be Millennium Falcon for a customised secret mission.
Created by George Lucas, the popular "Star Wars" film franchise is an epic space opera. The latest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which stars Harrison Ford, will release later this year.
