Ace designer Suneet Varma showcased his couture collection for the Capital city's fashionista that focused on western silhouettes and the traditional craftsmanship of couture.
The shapes and forms of the 40 piece collection took inspiration from gowns from Hollywood glamour from a bygone era amalgamated well with the modern techniques of embellishment, corsetry, styling.
The collection was divided into four groups - each with its own inspiration, fabric and the Feminine Ideals was highlighted with sultry peach, celadon green and floss pink stretch satin gowns in delicate thread embroidery with varied floral motifs.
Off shoulder dresses and flared skirts, hand embroidery in bugle beads, colour on colour sequin and Swarovski shimmer crystal added the sparkle to the range.
The Satin Sirens collection had a deep rich colour palette of lustrous satin in vermillion red, deep burgundy, midnight blue and dark rose. These red carpet ready gowns are in the shapes of peplums and fitted floor length Romance and decorated with corsages and large hand made accessories.
The Post Modern Glamour had floor length gowns and high waited skirts with asymmetrical corsets. Large hand cut mirrors embellished with tonal bead work in mosaic shapes are the epitome of the design.
Last but not the least, Freedom and Fantasy was the finale collection consisting of gold, beige and pink floor length gowns.
This occasion also marks Suneet Varma's successful collaboration of 15 years with Swarovski, making it a core ingredient in all his designs and global collaborations.
The show also highlighted the designer's latest jewelry collection for CONFLUENCE, an exclusive
collective of designer jewelry with the finest crystals from Swarovski.
"I believe fashion is the politest way of speaking about sex...But I like the subtle unspoken word, left to the imagination of the wearer. The glamour and sensuality in this collection comes through the use of sheer and lucid fabrics, the delicate placement of embellishments, the drapes and the unexpected details and what they reveal or conceal," said the designer.
"Evening couture is like a sixth sense of seduction."
