Port of Spain (Trinidad), June 21 (IANS/CMC) Trinidad and Tobago have named mystery spinner Sunil Narine in a 29-man squad to start training Saturday in preparation for September's Champions League Twenty20 in India.
Narine became available to play for his regional side after his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, missed out on Champions League T20 qualification, reports CMC.
Narine has just retained the number one spot in the ICC ranking for ODI bowlers and his presence is expected to increase T&T's chances in the tournament.
But missing from the squad are IPL stars Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Kevon Cooper.
The trio's respective IPL franchises all qualified for the Champions League T20 and on the strength of impressive performances are likely to be retained.
Pollard campaigns with IPL champions Mumbai Indians, Cooper with Rajasthan Royals, and Bravo with Chennai Super Kings.
Also in the training squad are West Indies players Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Lendl Simmons, Shannon Gabriel and Samuel Badree.
The players will attend a practice session at Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre, Couva Saturday.
