Surmandu, a programme aiming to bring together artistes from Nepal and India to promote the music of both countries, has been launched here, the Indian embassy said.

Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, recipient of several prestigious awards, Saturday launched the programme at a function organised by the Indian mission and the B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, said a statement issued by the embassy.

A flute performance by Chaurasia enthralled the audience during the launch.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae felicitated the maestro and his team at the end of the performance.
