A 50-year-old man suspected to be spying for Pakistan was arrested here on Saturday, police said.
Acting on intelligence inputs, police nabbed Akhtar Khan alias Mohamad Javed alias Raju from the city's Chittaranjan Avenue area in the evening.
"We suspect him to be an ISI (Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence) agent and allegedly involved in espionage. We have seized fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs.1.75 lakh from him," Joint Commissioner of Police Rajiv Mishra said.
Police were, however, yet to ascertain Khan's nationality.
He has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including conspiracy.
