Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said on Saturday that the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference was a historical and honourable one since it was first held in 1947.
The state counsellor in her closing remarks at the four-day conference said people's involvement was essential for the pursuit of peace, urging capacity building to solve problems and collaboration with each other with respect, Xinhua news agency reported.
Suu Kyi said there were heated debates among representatives at the meeting who presented their diversified stances and opinions.
The conference, which aims to unite all ethnic groups in Myanmar and build a democratic federal union through dialogue, kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
The conference gathered about 1,600 representatives from government, parliament, military, political parties, ethnic armed and non-armed organisations as well as civil society organisations.
