BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Thursday said talks with Pakistan cannot take place if there was cross-border terrorism, noting that for a reasonable discussion, "blasts and gunshots have to stop".
In an interview to Times Now news channel, Modi said if a country looks strong, even its neighbours will change and atmosphere will change.
Asked if talks and terror can continue in relation to Pakistan, Modi said: "Is it possible to have discussions amidst bomb blasts and gunshots?"
"Do you think it is possible to have a discussion amidst the deafening noise of bomb blasts and gunshots? So to have a reasonable discussion, first the blasts and gunshots have to stop. There can be no talks till all this comes to an end," he said.
Asked if he became prime minister and Pakistan does not change its stance on issues such as 26/11 trial and infiltration, Modi said there was no need to think negatively.
"Why do you think negative? If the country looks strong, then even its companions will change, neighbours will change and the atmosphere will change...If the country's government is strong, then the solutions will be found automatically," he said.
