Homegrown automobiles major, Tata Motors reported a five percent growth in its total unit sales in the month of May at 39,496 vehicles.
In the same month in 2014, the company had sold 37,538 vehicles.
The company's domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for the month, however, remained flat at 34,818 units.
The passenger vehicles segment last month recorded a growth of 21 percent with sales of 11,138 units against 9,230 units in the corresponding month in 2014.
"The growth trend was driven by the cars segment, specifically the new launches of Zest and Bolt and with positive early response to the new GenX Nano," the company said in a statement.
In the commercial vehicles space, its sales in medium-heavy vehicles continued to growth by 17 percent at 10,788 units during May 2015. However, the light-small commercial vehicles' sales declined by 19 percent at 12,892 units.
The company's sales from exports in the month under review stood at 4,678 units - higher by 47 percent compared to 3,191 vehicles in May 2014.
The cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market during April-May grew by 28 percent at 21,368 units while the collective sales in the commercial vehicles space declined by 2 percent at 45,809 units.
