Actor Channing Tatum has signed on to star in the upcoming thriller film "Triple Frontier", while actor Tom Hardy is in final talks to be a part of the project.
The film, which is backed by Paramount Pictures, is touted to be a South American crime thriller, reports variety.com.
With Tatum joining the project, this marks the biggest step towards the movie getting a green signal since it was announced that Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal were developing the project in 2009.
Bigelow has since left the project as director, and was replaced by J.C. Chandor.
Boal is still serving as a writer and producer.
The film is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge -- making "la triple frontera" difficult to monitor and a haven for organised crime.
