Suspected militants abducted a tea garden manager, hailing from Rajasthan, in Assam's Sonitpur district Friday, police said.
"Bharat Singh Rathore, manager of the Pabhoi tea garden in Biswanath Chariali town has been abducted. We have launched a search operation to rescue the manager, who hails from Rajasthan," said Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Arabinda Kalita.
The officer, however, refused to name any particular outfit behind the incident.
Police said there has been no ransom demand by any militant outfit so far.
Officials say the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) led by I.K. Songbijit has a presence in the district.
