Tarun Tejpal's accusation that the BJP was victimising him may be the result of a failed sting operation the Tehelka editor-in-chief was trying to conduct in Goa, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Wednesday.
"He is a known stinger. Maybe he was trying a sting operation which failed, which is why he is saying this," Parrikar told a press conference at the state secretariat here.
Parrikar also dared Tejpal to carry out a sting operation in Goa.
"Let him do a sting here... if he wants to trap something," he said.
Tejpal has been accused by a junior colleague of sexual assault during a conference organised by the weekly magazine in Goa earlier this month.
Tejpal in his anticipatory bail application before the Delhi High Court has said the Bharatiya Janata Party was pressurising police to nail him as part of a vendetta.
