Popular Telugu character artist and comedian Adusumilli Janardhan Vara Prasad aka Ahuti Prasad passed away Sunday at a private hospital here. He was 62.
"He was undergoing treatment for some health-related issues at our hospital for the last few days. He showed signs of improvement last week, but his condition worsened this morning (Sunday) and he died half an hour ago," a source from KIMS Hospital told IANS.
According to industry sources, Ahuti was suffering from colon cancer.
He made his cinematic debut in 1988 Telugu film "Ahuti". Since then, he starred in over 100 films, predominantly in Telugu, and one each in Tamil and Hindi as well.
In Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Sooryavansham", he played a brief role.
Some of his best Telugu films include "Malliswari", "Bendu Apparao RMP", "Indra" and "Chandamama".
He is survived by his wife and two sons Karthik and Bharani.
