The father of terror accused Viqaruddin Ahmed, who was shot dead with four others by police in Telangana on Tuesday, said the "encounter" was fake and staged-managed.
Mohammed Ahmed told reporters that the police murdered his son and others in cold blood.
"It is a pre-planned murder by the police," he said and demanded that the policemen involved should be booked for murder.
He said he had visited Warangal Central Jail to meet his son 10 days ago and said everything was all right.
He said he had filed a petition requesting the court to shift Viqaruddin to a jail in Hyderabad for speedy disposal of the case.
Viquaruddin and four others involved in the killing of two policemen and some other cases were shot dead by the police near Pemburti in Warangal district on Tuesday when they were being brought to Hyderabad for a court hearing.
Police claimed that they tried to snatch weapons from policemen escorting them and tried to flee.
Mohammed Ahmed said police carried out the murder plot in the wake of the recent gun battle in Nalgonda district in which two operatives of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were killed.
"Police thought they can mix up with the Nalgonda encounter and get away with it," he said.
