Theatre groups from different states will showcase their distinct forms at a festival beginning March 22 in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, an organiser said Monday.
Groups from Odisha, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will participate at the National Theatre Festival 2014 (Rang Yatra: Bange Bahirbange) organised by the Naksha organisation based in Gobardanga.
"The aim is for greater cultural exchange between the states. The audience will also get to experience variety of theatre and can compare and give opinions," said Asish Das, president-director of the organisation that has been into theatre for 34 years.
The festival, a collaborative venture between the union ministry of culture and the Gobardanga municipality, will be held at the Gobardanga Sanskriti Kendra. It will conclude March 26.
