Theft accused tries to kill himself in Gurgaon lockup

A Delhi resident, held for theft, tried to commit suicide in a police station here but did not succeed as the object he used to slit his throat was not sharp, police said Sunday.

"The incident happened Saturday night, Pawan Kumar went to toilet in the Sadar police station here and slit his throat with some object. The injury did not cause threat to his life as object was not very sharp," said a police officer.

Pawan Kumar, a resident of Delhi's Madangir area, was now booked on charges of attempted suicide.

He was arrested by crime branch in a theft case and booked for stealing laptops and mobiles.
