Top seed Prarthana Thombre, who lost to wild card entrant Thandi Kumar Kaur at Delhi in the very first round will be keen to make amends in the ITF Zuari Garden City Open women's tennis tournament that gets underway here Monday.

The Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association was a beehive of activity Sunday with all the main draw players getting a feel of the courts.

The player to watch will be Aussie qualifier Abbie Meyers, a quarter-finalist in the Delhi event where she lost to wild card Snehadevi Reddy, but exacted revenge here Saturday in the final qualifiers.

Meyers had accounted for top seed Lertataksanchai from Thailand in the second round at Delhi and is slated to take on Rutuja Bhosle, ranked 998 while second seed Al Nabhani of Oman has drawn qualifier Arthi Muniyan.

Earlier, the last two qualifiers went to the wire. Top seeded Srishti Salaria made heavy weather of her contest against Swetha Sree Hari, losing the first set on tie-breaker, but took the second comfortably before wasting three match points in the third that she eventually won in the tie-break after a 150-minute battle.

Malaysian Theiviya Selvarajoo also rallied from a set deficit to put it across Simran Kaur Sethi.
