Three people were arrested for smuggling about 200 kg of pseudoephedrine (drugs), worth Rs.10 crore, to the northeastern states as well as to China and Myanmar, police said Wednesday.
Mohammad Asgar, 31, Abdul Mazzed, 31 and Mohammad Abdul Salem, 25 were arrested from Jamia Nagar area in south Delhi.
In December 2012, a trafficking module involved in supplying of pseudoephedrine to Myanmar was busted.
According to he police, during the interrogation of the accused then arrested, it was revealed that one Mohammad Asgar was the main conduit who used to procure these drugs from clandestine pharmaceutical units based in Muzzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), Dehradun (Uttarakhand) and Baddi (Himachal Pradesh).
The drugs were then smuggled to other states and overseas, said an officer.
Pseudoephedrine is used to manufacture party drugs such as methamphetamine, commonly known as ice and ecstasy, he added.
