Three persons died while six were badly injured when a private vehicle carrying relief material fell off a cliff in West Bengal's Darjeeling district on Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place in Sukhiyapokhri, approximately 18km from the hill town Darjeeling.
"An SUV car carrying nine passengers lost control and fell nearly 150 feet down the cliff in Sukhiyapokhri at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday. Three women died in the accident while six others got injured," an officer from Sukhiyapokhri police station said.
According to the police, the SUV was returning from Darjeeling's Lodhma along with three other cars when the accident happened.
"The injured including the driver have been rushed to hospital," the officer added.
