Three people, including a woman, were found dead along with an injured man near a railway track here on Friday morning, police said.

The bodies and the injured man, identified as Soorajbhan, 45, were found in a pool of blood around 6.30 a.m near a railway track situated a few metres from Sarojini Nagar railway station in south Delhi.

One of the deceased, in his early 20s, was yet to be identified while the other two were identified as Ramesh, 40, a Delhi Police employee who worked as a cook at the residence of a senior officer of the force, and Meena, 40, a maid.

"Prima facie, it seems they were hit by a train. The case has been transferred to the Government Railway Police (GRP)," a police officer said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dumbere Millind Mahadeo told IANS that the sequence of events was yet to be ascertained.

"The railway police is investigating the case from all possible angles to find out if it was an accidental case or there was any foul play behind it," Mahadeo told IANS.

"The only present witness of the incident Soorajbhan is still under medical observation and unfit for statement, we are struggling to get together the sequence of events," the officer said.

He said that Soorajbhan was in an inebriated condition when he was found injured near the railway track along with the three bodies.

"Soorajbhan's statement only can unravel the puzzle how all of them reached at the railway track. Were they travelling in the train and fell while stepping down from it or they were trying to board? Where were they going?," the officer said.

He said that Soorajbhan and the deceased Meena are husband and wife and reside in Tilak Nagar and Moti Bagh area respectively while Ramesh was a resident of R. K. Puram.
