Three people have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor pavement-dwelling girl in Kolkata, police said on Wednesday.
The girl was kidnapped from a north Kolkata footpath on Tuesday night and sexually assaulted by three men in a van rickshaw, the police said.
"The minor girl was recovered by the officers on patrol in north Kolkata's Chittaranjan Avenue on Tuesday night. She was sexually abused. Her clothes were half torn and she had bruise marks on her body," an officer from the Boubazar Police Station said.
"The girl has been admitted to a the Calcutta Medical College. She is stable now," he said.
The police have arrested the three offenders.
"The three persons involved in the case have been arrested and remanded to police custody for 14 days," the officer added.
