Three guerrillas trying to enter into Jammu and Kashmir were killed on Saturday by the army at the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, an official said, adding the infiltration bid was foiled.
A defence spokesman here said a group of four to five heavily armed militants made an infiltration bid in Tutmaar Ghali area of the LoC in the morning.
"Alert troops of the army challenged the intruders after which they opened heavy volume of automatic gunfire at the troops triggering an encounter. Three militants have been killed in this ongoing encounter and the infiltration attempt has been foiled," the spokesman said.
